Featherweight Josh Warrington made his first successful defense of the International Boxing Federation title with a unanimous decision win over Carl Frampton at the Manchester Arena in England on December 22, 2018.
Warrington, (28-0, 6KO) was facing his toughest opponent yet in Frampton, a previous bantamweight IBF champion, and over twelve championship rounds the Leeds, Yorkshire United Kingdom native pressed the inside action of a fight that was broadcast live in the United States on ESPN+.
It was reported that over 20,000 fans watched the event which ended with the judge’s scores of 116-113 and 116-112 twice for Warrington.
The United Kingdom fighter originally won the IBF featherweight title with an upset split decision win over Lee Selby in May 2018.
