HURD DEFENDS IBF 154 TITLE/LICONA WINS VACANT MINI-FLYWEIGHT IBF TITLE

Junior Middleweight Jarret Hurd made the third successful defense of the International Boxing Federation title with a definitive knockout over Jason Welborn on December 1, 2018.

Hurd, (23-0, 16KO) utilized an educated jab throughout the contest and after a spirited effort from Welborn, Hurd was able to fell the challenger via body shot in the fourth round.  Referee Lou Moret then ten-counted Welborn, who remained on the canvas.  Hurd was ahead on all three judge’s scorecards at the time of the stoppage of 1:55. 

In the Mini Flywieght IBF fight, Carlos Licona outpointed Mark Anthony Barriga for the organizations vacant title. 

After twelve rounds, a split decision by the scores of 113-115 and 115-113 twice awarded Licona (14-0, 2KO) the victory as well as the International Boxing Federation belt.

Both IBF title bouts occurred on the undercard of the heavyweight fight featuring Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury.  17,698 were announced in attendance at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.
